A building envelope is the physical separator between the conditioned and unconditioned environment of a building. It is specifically designed to resist air, water, heat, light, and noise.

The elements are particular harsh for buildings in Western Canada, especially with our inconsistent weather and freeze-thaw cycles. In addition to protecting a building from damage due to the elements, a good business envelope helps a building age well to protect your investment. Done correctly, the building envelope also provides ongoing energy savings.

Both the above-grade and the below-grade portions of the building enclosure are part of a physical system involving three interactive components: the exterior environment, the enclosure system, and the interior environment.
